From the earliest days of the SAB, the arrangements for the Society's annual meeting were handled by local volunteers in the cities selected as the meeting site. When local Branches began to be formed (after a constitutional change in 1917 formalized the conditions such organizations needed to meet for approval), they began to issue formal invitations to host the annual meeting, with the promise to handle local arrangements. Areas of responsibility could include publicity, commercial exhibits, the annual banquet, registration, hotel reservations and activities for the wives of attendees.
These local committees submitted reports after the meeting, both for accounting purposes, and in order to offer criticisms and suggestions for the benefit of future hosting Branches. A listing of the reports which are maintained in the Society's Archives follows. Occasionally there are additional files of correspondence from the Local Committee Chairman in addition to the formal reports. A number of the larger reports are very tightly bound, and photocopying may not be possible.
