RITA COLWELL PAPERS
These papers contain materials relating to some of Rita R. Colwell's professional activities. Series One covers her involvement in various programs of the American Society for Microbiology from 1963 until her election as the Society's President in 1983. Series Two relates to her activities in the International Union of Microbiological Societies from 1962-86. Series Three contains the records from her tenure as ASM President-elect, President, and Past-President, covering the years 1983-86. Series Four and Series Five are comprised of materials donated subsequent to processing of the first three series. Series Four contains records of Dr. Colwell's various ASM activities after her term as President. Series Five documents her tenure as Chair of the Board of Governors of the American Academy of Microbiology.

Much of the material consists of copied documents distributed to the committee for informational purposes by Robert Watkins, Director of Public Affairs.
