AOK OneSearch Guide

Search Categories

There are three categories to choose from when using OneSearch. This table describes the categories and what can be found in each.

Search Category Name What is included Notes
Everything Full UMBC Library Catalog and materials from the other University System of Maryland & Affiliated Institutions catalogs Turn on "Results Beyond USMAI" to include items available through Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)
UMBC Library Catalog Everything that UMBC owns and can access; both physical and online Turn on "Results Beyond USMAI" to include all USMAI materials and items available through Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)
Special Collections The books and archives available in the Special Collections department Photographs and other publication materials like fanzines and University publications can be searched using the Special Collections Search on the Special Collections homepage

 

Video tutorials

This video will:

  • Introduce OneSearch and where to find it
  • Explain the different content options available in the drop down menu
  • Describe how to access your account and the personalization benefits of signing in, and
  • Describe how to request materials from other USMAI libraries and interlibrary loan (Illiad)
     

This video will:

  • Describe searching AOK OneSearch for a known item or for items on a topic
  • Demonstrate how to use the “refine your results” filters to limit by availability, material type, date, and subject
  • Show how to expand results to those beyond the University System of Maryland
     

This video will demonstrate how to:

  • Sort returned results
  • Read a record
  • Access digital items / determine an item’s availability/location
  • Request an item
  • Save and share search results
