MLL 605 Research Guide

Getting Started

To get started, brainstorm different search terms, or key words that can be used to find information about your topic. Think of a variety of synonyms for your topic.

For example, if you are writing a paper related to sustainability, interculturality, and social justice, you can try a variety of keyword combinations:

intercultural communication, cross-cultural communication, conflict management, multiculturalism

AND social justice, equity, civic engagement

    AND sustainability, environmental innovation

You should narrow your topic down and add specific search terms related to your topic. There is no right or wrong way to do this. Research is a process of discovery!
