Citing Primary Sources

Why should I cite?

Whether you are writing a paper, blogging, or creating multimedia works, anytime you use a work created by someone else it should be cited. This includes images, video and sound recordings, and written works. Primary sources such as paintings, songs, videos and other primary sources also need to be cited when they are reproduced or mentioned in your own work.

There are three main reasons for citing your sources.
1.  Avoid plagiarism - Using someone else's words, images, or ideas and presenting them as your own is plagiarism.
