Recommended Statistical Resources

These resources will provide methods and access to statistical data from a variety of sources.

Data.census.gov [formerly American Factfinder]
American FactFinder provides access to data about the United States, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. The data in American FactFinder come from several censuses and surveys.

Data.gov
The United States government's open data site includes federal, state, and local datasets.
Human Development Reports
Human Development Reports are produced at the global, regional, and national level. These reports use human development as the focus of reporting. They are tools for policy analysis reflecting people's priorities, strengthening national capacities, engaging national partners, identifying inequities and measuring progress.

Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)
A data archive of more than 500,000 files of research in the social sciences. It hosts 16 specialized collections of data in education, aging, criminal justice, substance abuse, terrorism, and other fields.

International Data Base (IDB)

Country rankings and global population trends, links to historical population estimates, population clocks, and estimates of population, births, and deaths.
Maryland State Data Center

Harvard Dataverse
The Harvard Dataverse Network within the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS) at Harvard, hosts a large collection of social science research and data.
ProQuest Statistical Insight
